Addthis widget is the easiest way to place a social bookmarking icon at the end of the post in Blogspot blog. There are many benefits in this button. Currently Addthis service provides many social bookmarking and feed reader systems. Therefore it?s very useful to promote your blog, keep your visitors for a long time and build traffic from social networks. Most of bloggers in Blogspot don?t know the correct method to place Addthis button after the post. In wordpress this process is very easy. But in the Blogspot you have to modify the template. Let see the correct steps.
First of all you should have an account in Addthis. Then click on ?Get the code for your widget?. Now you can select the format of the widget. I recommend to select the large one. Then choose ?On a blog? as the place and ?Blogger? as the blogging platform. Then get the code in ?Blog Post Button (New Blogger)?. Those steps are very easy to be done.
Now you have to find the correct place in template code. Find the place ?data:post.body? in the template.(Hint: use Ctrl+F). Let see the screen shot and get a help from it.
Paste the code in the correct place. Finally save the template and see the result.
Hi Rukshan,
Addthis is a good service but the drawback is it only places a button at the end of the post. The reader has to click and go to a new webpage and from there select out of 20+ services to bookmark it. This is tedious and I don’t think readers will go to such length to bookmark a single post. Also only a few of those bookmarking services in that page are worth bookmarking in.
In wordpress blogs you see the below easy way of bookmarking in major sites only.
Bookmark: Del.icio.us | digg | reddit | Netscape | StumbleUpon
Is there a way to have bookmarking icons/text links like this at the end of every blogspot post . You told me earlier that Feedburner’s feedflare has a service. Does it allow you to have it like this? Await your reply. Thanks.
BTW I think you have missed “all of the above kinds of articles” option in your current blog poll. Blogging, web mastering, adsense tips all go together. I like the balance you have been maintaining so far in these areas. Also I wouldn’t mind engineering articles though I am not interested in them.
This is a very nice gadget see how i did it in my site.

Hi Planet apex,
I’ll try it. I guess in wordpress may have a plug-in to do it. But i have seen some blogspot bloggers also do it.
I’ll contact them and find the method. Keep with the steps that i told in this post. If you find a good service better than “addthis”, we can get that code to implement this.
Good luck!
try Simple Tricks Also comment there u can add icons for blogspot using this hack
Hi Rukshan
this is a very nice site. Here you are doing a good service to the keen people on this field
Wish you all the best
Hmm you too added it..
I have another suggestion. One of your bookmark icons goes down to the next line.So remove one of that icon.
May be the most useless bookmark..I had mentioned a text file rite. You can remove individual buttons by removing <a expr…………………</a> tag from that text file.
There are 11 a expr tags in that file. Remove one of them and it will look better
Plz comment on my blog if u liked the trick
Simple Tricks
